Introduction

Ting-Chia Hsu (also known as Ching-Kun Hsu) is currently a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Technology Application and Human Resource Development in National Taiwan Normal University.
Her research interests include computational thinking education, technology-enhanced learning, and AI literacy.
She has won academic awards almost every year from 2013 to the present from different associations.
In terms of international academic impact, Dr. Hsu has published more than forty SSCI journal papers.
Dr. Hsu was awarded a government scholarship by Ministry of Education for project research abroad from August to October in 2011 (i.e., A visiting scholar in National Institute of Education in Singapore). She was granted a project research abroad by Ministry of Science and Technology from August 2019 to January 2020 (i.e., A visiting professor in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA). She got a lot of awards each year, shown in the Award table.

As for international academic service and leader missions, Dr. Hsu has organized and leaded many international conferences (e.g., GCCIL2017, SETE2019, GCCCE2021), workshops (e.g., TELL, CUMTEL, CTE-STEM), panel (e.g., ICWL2013/ICCE2019) sub-conferences (e.g., GCCE, ICCE) or main-conferences (e.g., GCCIL2017/SETE2019/CTE2020/GCCCE2021/ICFULL2022), and also served as a guest editor for some international journals (e.g., IJMLO, RPTEL, IJOPCD, IRROLD) and a co-Editor-in-Chief for the springer journal named Research and Practice in Technology Enhanced Learning (RPTEL) from September 2023.
She was the chair of The Special Interest Group (SIG) on Technology Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) under the Information and Computer Education Division in the Ministry of Science Technology in Taiwan form 2019 to 2020. She was also the Chair of The Special Interest Group (SIG) on Classroom, Ubiquitous and Mobile Technology Enhanced Learning (CUMTEL) under the Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE), 2020-2021. She was the Co-Chair of The Special Interest Group (SIG) Computational Thinking-Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics Education (CTE-STEM) under the Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE), 2022-2023, and is currently the Chair of CTE-STEM SIG from 2024 to 2025.
In highlight of her social impact, as a Computer Education major, Dr. Hsu is both outstanding in the research on technology-enhanced learning and active in the research on information and technology education.

She has the experience of teaching from secondary schools to universities. These professional training and work experiences are related to and contribute to her position as an expert and a scholar in educational technology and computational thinking research.
Dr. Hsu is currently the editor of the official set of text books for the compulsory education of the Information Techonology subject in secondary education in Taiwan. The books have been published for all 7th grade students in 2019, for 8th graders in 2020, and for 9th graders in 2021. It is planned that the books will be used for ten years in Taiwan.

Professor Hsu is a top computer education scholar. Professor Hsu ranks in the top 2% of the world based on the “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2020 and 2021”released by Stanford University in 2021 and 2022, which selected the top 2% of scientists from nearly 8 million scientists in the world. Professor Hsu is currently the co-PI of educational big data analytics project in MOE and responsible for calling for micro program proposals of educational big data analytics in Taiwan. That project has sponsored 13 universities in 2022-2023, and 14 universities in 2024-2025. At least 10 universities will be selected after reviewing so that many universities have resources to provide the micro program for cultivating intelligent and innovative talents across departments in coming years for educational big data.
